Video Release: I’m Drowning feat. Claire Cameron

What do you get if you take 5 moody buggers, a broken relationship and a pretty girl in a bath? The new video for The Idol Dead’s fabulous ‘I’m Drowning ‘ video.

Shot over 6 months, not coz they are hardcore film makers, but coz Claire Cameron ran away to Vietnam, and edited by our very own Polly Phluid – this is a lovely few minutes of pathos and pain.

Why not take a minute or two out of your day and give it a watch – then give it a share – it really is very good .

Press Release: Pledging for the Dead

Raaaaaaa!!! Our boys in The Idol Dead are at it again … time to get your pledge on peeps!

After the great success of crowd funding their 2nd album, Dark Little Hearts, the boys have been beavering away at Purple Pro Audio and Eiger studios to write that difficult 3rd album. After many months of blood sweat and tears they finally had enough songs to go see Carl Rosamond to talk about Pledging and Pre-Production.

Carl is a diamond and really wanted to get involved, so The Idol Dead had no excuse not to get started and build their campaign site on pledgemusic.com

They’ve added incentives like T-shirts, Cover Versions, chances to sing on the album, bespoke bracelets and much, much more.

After a week the lads are at almost 50% … how cool are the assembled iDolls and Zom-bois we call The Idol Army?

Raaa! hope to get this bad boy out sometime in the Autumn – and there will be loads of shiny new merch kicking about too – god, we LOVE rock n roll – we really do.

Press Release: The Idol Dead New Album

With Ginger Wildheart bopping in and out of the national press at the moment for his awesome achievements with his pledge album, 555%,  – featuring  Leeds’ very own Chris Catalyst no less – I don’t feel I have to fill you in on this new way of making music.

What I do have to tell you is Leeds Rock n Roller’s, The Idol Dead, have taken it upon themselves to emulate Mr Wildhearts, abet in a much more modest fashion, and ask their fans to pledge for the recording of their second album. 6 weeks in they hit the 100% mark and have already started pre-production.

Singer Polly Phluid says ‘It seems such a great way of making music, asking the fans if they’d like a new album then going and making for them. Obviously we’re not making money out of this, and have only asked for cash towards the recording. But, it’s created such a great vibe for us, that I can’t imagine not doing this again! We’re overwhelmed, happy and humbled by the support we have received and can’t wait to get this bad boy out.’

The boys will be working with Leeds audio genius Carl Rossamund, who mixed their 2010 debut Die On My Feet Or Live On My Knees, and hope to have something in the fans little hands by September.

They’ll also be entering Purple Pro audio on 4th August to record an intimate acoustic show that some pledgers will be receiving as an extra.

The album, titles Dark Little Hearts, will be commercially available through RAAA! Records after the pledgers have their copies, but if you want to watch The Idol Dead document the recording process and get involved in their community, you need to be a pledger. Press Release – The Idol Dead

Die On My Feet Or Live On My Knees

The Idol Dead

The Idol Dead are coming for ya!

Yep, after countless re-mixes, and what seems like the best part of a year, the debut album from Leeds’ finest glam punks is finally ready to roll out and join the party.

Die On My Feet Or Live On My knees contains 11 blistering tunes with riffs so big they’ll stomp out of the speakers and kick your ears all over the room … while the sweet melodies and lilting harmonies will sooth your nerves and calm your soul.

The Idol Dead take all the best bits of their idols, blending them into a glorious, eclectic mix.

The glamour of Bowie, the power of the Foos, the tunefulness of The Wildhearts, the heartfelt poetry of the Manics and the pop sensibilities of Feeder, you’ll find all that and more on Die On My Feet Or Live On My Knees – it’s rock Jim, just how we like it.

The Idol Dead love all the same things you do! The sex, the drugs, the rock n roll – but they’re also prone to moments of moving reflection – the deep chasms of depression, the impotent anger at the in justice of the world and the love found in the midst of the madness – all these themes are weaved into the very fabric of Die On My Feet Or Live On My Knees.

All that, and it’s still a party album that’ll inject fire and happiness into everybody’s life.

Recorded in various studios across the city and mixed by desk-jockey genius Carl Rosamund, Die On My Feet Or Live On My Knees is the perfect antidote to audio apathy and insipid pop – buy it on iTunes or via the bands’ website (www.theidoldead.co.uk) – you know it makes sense.

Welcome to Raaa! Records

This is Sidney

Hi! I'm Sidney

He’s a Rock-a-saurus.

He’s always loved music.

He’s carried by the beat.

He doesn’t care what genre it is, he just loves a good tune.

So, when Sidney wanted to get into the music, he had to decide how to do it.

Would he be a guitarist? No. His arms are to short.

What about a singer? No, he’s not a fan of Black Metal and doesn’t live in Norway, so his gruff voice would be no good.

What could he do?

Why, start a record label of course!

And why not call it ‘Raaa!’ then Sidney wouldn’t have a problem pronouncing it!

So, that’s what he did.

But, the music world is an alien and difficult place for a Dinosaur and Sidney soon became sick of scaring people at gigs and eating greedy managers.

Before long he decided to ask two of his favourite human people to run ‘Raaa! Records’ for him – Robert Cathcart and Nishan Gonsalkorale.

You can find out more about them by clicking on their names above.

Sidney was very clear with Nish and Robert that he wanted ‘Raaa!’ run in line with his philosophy on music – make it real, make it honest and make it rock!

So, that’s what they set off to do.
